CyberGhost’s free trial, though useful, is quite more complicated and less than ideal than usual.

Download the VPN, create an account via Windows, get just 24 hours to try the service out, have limited access to the full service, and unavailability of some of the specialist streaming connections. The worst is whenever you connect, you will be warned that all the ‘free slots’ are used up, so wait a minute or two; and yes, CyberGhost’s free trial offers only a single device connection.

And, if you sign up via the iOS app, the 24 hrs trial will reach up to seven days, ensuring you’re initially creating the account on the app, not on the desktop.

No. CyberGhost does not have our recommendation for use in China. Our independent on-the-ground testing revealed that the CyberGhost software would not even open, which means logging in was impossible.  

We reached out to the CyberGhost customer support team for a query regarding the issue, and they confirmed that CyberGhost could not ensure a working connection in some countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. Furthermore, the service’s traffic is also impacted in Egypt, Syria, Turkey, and some other countries.

A good alternative for CyberGhost, where it does not work, is ExpressVPN. ExpressVPN is among the very few VPNs that work in China.

How transparent CyberGhost’s Logging Policy is? 

CyberGhost uses 256-bit AES encryption, insistent about its strict no-logs policy – it means the sites you visit, browsing history, traffic destination, data content, IP address, connection timestamps, the transmitting data, and your search preferences are not monitored or recorded by the company. 

However, CyberGhost has not undergone a comprehensive independent audit of their claims so far. Still, a Transparency Report, listing DMCA, police and other requests it receives, and the data it hands over.

My Verdict 

CyberGhost is a clean, user-friendly VPN with torrenting and dedicated streaming profiles; the VPN boasts plenty of practical features and decent speeds. 

Other than specialized servers and HTTP protection, CyberGhost VPN is super-secure, bypassing geoblocks reliably.

However, some of its major downsides include unavailability in China and unbiased distribution of features across platforms.
